1 Summary of the scheme

The purpose of the prize is to reward a doctorate in law or legal history whose thesis addresses at least one of the following themes: internal or comparative judicial practices; the organization and operation of justice.

The prize is awarded annually and made public.

ENM is responsible for publicizing and distributing the rules of the prize, its opening procedures, timetable and results.

The prizewinner receives €5,000 from .

A second prize is also awarded. It receives an endowment of €2,500.

Endowments are left to the discretion of the recipients.

In exceptional circumstances, the jury may decide to award one or no prize.

The award of the prize is subject to acceptance by the prize-winners within fifteen days of its designation as such by the Director of ENM. In the absence of express acceptance by the prizewinner within this period, he/she will be deemed to have renounced the prize, in which case ENM reserves the right to designate another prizewinner under the same terms and conditions.

2 Conditions of eligibility

Applicants must be doctors of law or legal history who have defended their thesis during the calendar year preceding that in which the prize is awarded. Theses must be written in French.
