    The aim of the Economics of Law master's degree is to offer interdisciplinary training enabling students to acquire dual skills in law and economics. These two disciplines are increasingly interacting both in the economic world (corporate life, business, the conduct of economic policies, regulation) and in legal expertise or even research (for many branches of law or even the economic analysis of institutions).

    The major allows students to acquire a dual competence in law and economics

    The major allows for specialisation à through three pathways : Business, Law and Economics (Erasmus + label, entirely in English) which focuses on the economic analysis of law, Distribution, Competition which deals with the legal aspects of mass distribution and Droit économique, training of excellence à research in business law, for étudiants who are destined à an academic career, and high-level généraliste training for future lawyers.

  • TARGETED STUDENTS

    This course is aimed at 1) generally speaking, any student wishing to enrich their initial course (law or economics) by studying a related discipline, but also 2) students who have followed a double degree course who will find it a natural extension of their undergraduate course, 3) students wishing to do a postgraduate course in law or economics, 4) students wishing to do a postgraduate course in economics, 5) students wishing to do a postgraduate course in law or economics, 6) students wishing to do a postgraduate course in law or economics, 7) students wishing to do a postgraduate course in economics, 8) students wishing to do a postgraduate course in law or economics;3) students aiming for a third cycle of study and, finally, 4) those aiming for a career requiring only technical knowledge.

  • ADMISSION CONDITIONS

    Access to M1: Bachelor's degree in law or economics or equivalent diploma, VAE

  • STRUCTURE AND ORGANISATION

    The M1 is a common core for all the degree courses. It is designed to be accessible to students from bachelor degrees in economics, management or law. It provides direct access to the three degree courses and enables students to apply for an Erasmus Mundus M2. The Business Law and Economics pathway welcomes students from the Erasmus Mundus consortium in semester 4.

  • KNOWLEDGE TO BE ACQUIRED

    For all programmes :

    • knowledge of the main tools of economic analysis (microeconomics, game theory, behavioural analysis, economics, statistics)
    • economic analysis of market dynamics (innovation, use of new technologies, platforms, public-private partnerships, banking and financial markets)
    • knowledge of areas of law targeting the business world (collective proceedings, industrial, literary and artistic property, taxation, business contracts, banking and finance)

    Specific knowledge à each programme :

    • « Business, Law and Economics » (BLE) : in-depth study of the tools of economic analysis of law and regulation, with a focus on real-life applications and their implementation (public and private law)
    • « Economic law » (DE) company law, contract law (including international), competition law, liability law, and arbitration
    • « Distribution Competition » (DC) : distribution law, distribution contract techniques, economic and market environment of distribution, franchising
  • PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED

    The student must know :

    • Understand the recent dynamics of markets, business law and regulation
    • Synthesise a body of literature and propose an original analysis of a concrete problem
    • Work in a group and become familiar with teamwork
    • Maîtrise legal and economic English
    • Maîtriser l'utilisation des différents supports numériques (word, excel, power-point),
    • (BLE) Evaluate public policies (impact studies)
    • (BLE) Apply economic analysis to various areas of law and regulation
    • (DE and DC) : Analyse a situation and qualify it legally
    • (ED and DC) : Search for relevant information and update it as required
    • (DE and DC) : Have a dialectical view of the situation analysed in order to understand the position of the partner or opponent
    • (DE and DC) : Imagine solutions when the question is new
  • INTERNSHIPS AND SUPERVISED PROJECTS

    Students have the opportunity to undertake a work placement from Master 1 in order to bring them into contact with the professional world and enable them to make a more informed choice of career path. A longer placement (3 months) is also required in the Competition Distribution pathway.

  • SUPPORT FOR YOUR ACADEMIC CHOICES

    As the M1 is a core course with a strong emphasis on teaching the fundamentals of economic and legal analysis, students can refine their plans throughout the M1 to follow one of the courses in the field, or even one offered by other fields. Students are also encouraged to take part in the coaching sessions organised by the UFR Economie-Gestion and in the numerous seminars organised by the Institut du droit des affaires, which involve the participation of professionals.

    The degree benefits from a network of major socio-economic partners as well as numerous institutional partnerships. Students are specially prepared to integrate easily into an international working environment. The proximity of research centres can also facilitate integration into the world of research and expertise

  • SUPPORT FOR YOUR STUDIES ABROAD

    The Business, Law and Economics course is integrated into an Erasmus Mundus + accredited consortium. Around twenty foreign students join the programme in semester 4 and all courses are taught in English. In the other programmes, many courses are taught in English (technology transfers, international commercial arbitration).
