Originally conceived as a simple moral requirement, good faith has gradually become a legal concept, establishing itself as one of the fundamental principles of contemporary law. It now constitutes a legal requirement governing relationships between legal subjects within domestic legal systems, relationships between citizens and the government, transnational relationships between private individuals, and interstate relations. To highlight the cross-cutting nature of this concept across various legal disciplines, this conference will focus on two main themes: good faith as a legal concept and the functions of good faith.
