Island territories present unique challenges for human resource management (HRM) and leadership. Remoteness, limited labor markets, the often-central role of the public sector, cultural and linguistic diversity, and exposure to climate risks all shape both organizational practices and employees’ career paths. Yet these specific characteristics are largely overlooked by management models designed primarily for large continental regions. These two half-day online sessions will bring together researchers from mainland France and the overseas territories. They aim to compare practical contexts, concepts, and methods, and to develop a comparative analysis of insularity in HRM and management.
