1 Summary of the scheme

In 2019, the Maison méditerranéenne des sciences de l'homme has created a thesis prize to be awarded each year to a doctor who has defended a work in the fields of Mediterranean and African studies and SHS disciplines.

The prize is open to theses written primarily in French, and defended in France or abroad between January 1 and December 31, 2023.

The prize of 3,000 euros is intended for publication of the thesis in one of the collections of the MMSH (including associated laboratories) or its partners: institutions belonging to the Réseau national des Maisons des sciences de l'homme, the Réseau des Écoles françaises à l'étranger and the Réseau des IFRE et UMIFRE. The winner of the prize must submit the final manuscript of his or her work to the publisher within 18 months of the announcement of the results. The sum of 3,000 euros will then be paid directly to the publisher.

  • Originality of the research (thematic, theoretical, methodological)
  • Quality of writing and feasibility of publishing project
