This symposium examines the forms taken by political melancholy in the long 19th century (1789-1914). In an era fragmented by regime changes - and particularly troubled by the socio-cultural implications that flowed from them - melancholy became, paradoxically, a constant sentiment common to even the most distant political ideologies.

This transdisciplinary colloquium aims to study the dissident/resistance student press produced in the countries of Central Europe, but also outside, on the initiative of students from these countries. From the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries to the end of the Cold War, students played a fundamental role in expressing and organizing resistance and/or dissent to established political regimes, some of which were characterized by the abolition of the democratic and liberal functioning of society.
