It seems that emotions can build and sustain democracies, but also threaten or even destroy them. This series of round-table discussions addresses the ambivalent role of emotional manifestations in contemporary democracies. Through four historical case studies, it extends a current of research that is currently making waves in Germany and France: the history of emotions.
