(Announcement Calenda 1113911)

1 Overview (summary)

The German Historical Institute (IHA) is a research center of the public Max-Weber Foundation - Deutsche Geisteswissenschaftliche Institute im Ausland. We work under the motto "Research-Mediation-Qualification" in the field of French, Franco-German and West European history - from Late Antiquity to the present day - and play a leading role in mediating between Germany and France. Digital history and sub-Saharan Africa are complementary areas of research.

The German Historical Institute is recruiting two PhD candidates (24 hours per week) for April 1, 2024 or a mutually agreed date.

The positions allow for the design and execution of a thesis project (three-year contract) or its completion (approximately one-year contract). The research project must fall within the IHA themes mentioned above, but the subject can be freely defined. In addition to their own research activities, PhD students will devote twelve hours a week either to IHA's scientific communication (blogs, social media and the de.hypotheses blog portal) or to editorial work (Francia magazine).

2 Application deadline: 08 01 2024
