(Announcement Calenda 1178558)
As part of its "Africa south of the Sahara" research program, Noria Research aims to promote approaches that reject a vision of Africa as a homogeneous whole. On the contrary, starting from the premise of a plural continent, our aim is to move away from globalizing approaches and to extricate ourselves from the negative and essentializing biases attached to them. Our aim is twofold. On the one hand, to highlight the complexities and diversities of these zones, beyond the discourse that approaches them as large groups ("Southern", "Central", "West" or "East" Africa). Secondly, to think of Africa and the world, i.e. to highlight and question the ancient and contemporary connections of these zones with the rest of the world. The aim is to restore the continent to its rightful place, both in the type of knowledge produced and in the processes by which this knowledge is elaborated - sometimes (even often) hampered by financial, political, institutional or discriminatory issues.
