For several years now, the journal Géographie et cultures has been tracking the transformations in contemporary geography—whether in terms of its subjects, methods, or modes of knowledge transmission. Building on these reflections, the editorial board wishes to dedicate a special issue to the uses, discourses, and controversies sparked by the recent proliferation of artificial intelligence (AI) in academia, and in particular so-called “generative” AI. The aim is to foster discussion on the uses and non-uses of artificial intelligence in the production and dissemination of geographical knowledge.

With the expansion of African universities and the democratization of access to higher education, campus food has emerged as a structural issue in university governance in the Global South. For thousands of students, securing food is a daily challenge linked to their academic resilience, health, and dignity. The book examines how ignorance of local food cultures can contribute to a form of epistemic symbolic violence that universities must address. Feeding students thus becomes a lever for justice, resilience, and the decolonization of knowledge, aiming to fill a gap in the scientific literature and serve as a reference for stakeholders in higher education in the Global South.

Contributions may focus, in particular, on social media, misinformation, artificial intelligence, health crises, political narratives, the media, and entrepreneurial practices.

The inclusion of people with disabilities is now a matter of social justice and respect for fundamental rights. Although enshrined in international treaties, this goal is hampered by unequal spatial realities, which are particularly evident in the overseas territories. While social science research on disability has expanded, studies specifically focused on overseas territories remain scarce. Similarly, statistical data in this area is incomplete. Furthermore, the legal statuses of these territories vary. And even within the Overseas Departments, situations differ due to history, local perceptions, or delayed integration into the legal framework (Mayotte). Moreover, the scales of analysis reveal different realities—particularly striking in New Caledonia, French Guiana, and French Polynesia—between local metropolitan centers and their more or less nearby peripheries. This gives rise to significant disparities—even entirely different worlds—between the regional capitals and their surrounding areas, on one hand, and the outlying regions, on the other.

It now constitutes a legal requirement governing relationships between legal subjects within domestic legal systems, relationships between citizens and the government, transnational relationships between private individuals, and interstate relations. To highlight the cross-cutting nature of this concept across various legal disciplines, this conference will focus on two main themes: good faith as a legal concept and the functions of good faith.
