On Friday, June 19, 2026, the University of Caen Normandie will be hosting a symposium entitled "Le droit français de la concurrence déloyale entre passé et avenir" in the MRSH amphitheater on Campus 1. Organized under the aegis of the ICREJ laboratory, this scientific event will be introduced by Professors Rafael Amaro and Jean-Christophe Roda.
The morning session will focus on the interactions between unfair competition and other areas of law. Speakers will analyze the relationship between unfair competition and civil liability, intellectual property, unfair trade practices and digital regulation, while also shedding light on comparative law.
The second part of the symposium will focus on the conditions for compensation. Discussions will focus on the triggering event (in particular, the violation of a rule) and the complex issue of prejudice. Particular emphasis will be placed on the technical assessment of this loss and the establishment of causality, through the eyes of judges, lawyers and financial experts.
Finally, the last part of the day will deal with unfair competition litigation. Experts will discuss procedural strategies, before tackling issues of private international law, such as the jurisdiction of courts and conflicts of law. These discussions will conclude with an exchange with the audience and a closing cocktail.
