  Climate catastrophe, extinction of living species, growing capitalist exploitation, increasingly authoritarian political regimes... The issues we are facing are of such magnitude that they quite simply send us back to the very possibilities of human habitability on our planet Earth. It is in this context that we, the members of the Centre de recherches interuniversitaire sur la communication, l'information et la société (CRICIS), have decided to develop research into the concepts of the "common", " buen vivir " and "ubuntu ", as well as into the social practices that lay claim to these ethics with the aim of "changingthe world ".

  During the first semester of 2026, the seminar series will take place on Friday mornings, January 23, February 27, March 27, April 17 and May 29, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Montreal time, at the Université du Québec à Montréal, Pavillon Judith, rooms J-1060 (April 17) or J-1187 on other dates.

  This seminar examines the everyday reality of the meaning of social work with others from the perspective of utopia (Bloch, 1918, 1959). By crossing several points of view on the experience of social care, it aims to make visible professional situations and utopian practices that run counter to bureaucratic logics. Sessions will examine the recomposition of boundaries between knowledge (professional, lay, experiential), the formation of a collective around shared values as a factor in health at work, the experience of paired aidance in the field of drug addiction, and the recognition of social groups beyond relations of minorization.

  The Réseau Francophone d'Histoire Ludique is open to researchers, game creators and cultural mediators interested in representations of the past in games, their production context, players' receptions and the history of games and their conservation. The different areas of work are developed on the network's website.

  "Histoire ludique" is above all a network of French-speaking people interested in the links between history, society and digital or analog games. The eponymous seminar brings together people with a wide range of experience in research and teaching at universities and secondary schools, in games development and in cultural institutions. The aim is to encourage the exchange of experience, ideas, contacts and references on games and related scientific productions.

  2026 program of workshops for the French component of the France-Quebec Research Chair on Contemporary Issues in Freedom of Expression (CNRS/FRQ).

  Coordinated since January 2023 by eight co-holders, four in Quebec and four in France, the France-Quebec Research Chair on Contemporary Issues in Freedom of Expression (COLIBEX) aims to develop research and training on freedom of expression, in a collaborative and international dimension. Its aim is to provide researchers, professionals, decision-makers and the general public with tools for thinking about, exercising and framing this freedom.

  Organized into transnational networks, this collective chair is organized around four axes: the first addresses the issue of regulating freedom of expression in relation to fundamental human rights and democracy (axis 1); the other three deal more specifically with its relationship with religion (axis 2), knowledge (axis 3) and creation (axis 4).

  In 2028, La Contemporaine will celebrate its one hundred and tenth anniversary. Created on the occasion of the first world conflict, the Bibliothèque-musée de la guerre became the Bibliothèque de documentation internationale contemporaine in 1934, then "La Contemporaine: bibliothèque, archives, musée des mondes contemporains" in 2018. Since its creation, it has collected, preserved and promoted collections dedicated to military and social conflicts, and their consequences, in a broad 20th century spanning from the Commune to the present day. To prepare a symposium and publication on the history of the institution in 2027-2028, la Contemporaine, in partnership with the association des amis de la Contemporaine and the European research project Activate, is launching a research seminar on its history in 2026-2027.

  The "Law, utopias and dystopias: what alternatives for tomorrow?" lecture series, organized on the initiative of Sabrina Robert, of the Droit et changement social (DCS) UMR CNR 6297 laboratory, examines the links between law, utopia and dystopia: what if law were constructed with science fiction and anticipation literature? What if fiction, by inventing worlds, was already shaping our future laws? Between utopia and legal rigor, between narrative and norm, a dialogue between jurists and authors of literature, exploring the shifting boundaries of the possible.

  Summary

  An essential component of the European intellectual revival, the trend known as "legal humanism" (it. Umanesimo giuridico, angl. Legal Humanism, all. humanistische Jurisprudenz), particularly fruitful in the 15th and 16th centuries, is defined by an approach to texts inherited from Roman law that both opposes and complements the medieval traditions of gloss and commentary. Researchers working on legal humanism have decided to set up a working group to bring them together. The aim is to facilitate the convergence, exchange and pooling of resources between the partner specialists, who feel the need to deepen their knowledge in a complementary way and wish to set up a joint and coordinated action in the field of legal humanism.

  Presentation

  The "Judicial Worlds and Social Practices (11th-19th centuries)" seminar is open to new and experienced researchers interested in the historical relationship between societies and their judicial frameworks (actors, procedures, bodies of law). This year, the theme of the seminar will focus on minorities, taken in the current sense of the word, designating groups whose rights and privileges place them at the bottom or on the margins of society. Conceived as a trans-period workshop, the seminar enables specialists from different periods to present and discuss recent or ongoing research on a common theme. Emphasis is placed on the sources documenting such topics, their content, scope and critique.

  From the interpretation of constitutional norms to the imposition of colonial norms, from their use to resolve conflicts to the conflicts they themselves provoke through their application, the six sessions of this seminar each invite several guests to dwell on the issues raised by legal norms, based on their personal research subjects. What emerges are movements within, outside, against or at the frontier of the legal field, which materialize the existence of a conflict of norms.

  This series of meetings is organized by doctoral students in law, philosophy and legal history, with the participation of researchers and legal practitioners.
