  On May 28 and 29, 2026, the Centre Jean Bodin is organizing the colloquium "Du pain et du droit" at the Faculté de droit, d'économie et de gestion of the Université d'Angers, in the Amphithéâtre Amande (3rd floor), and in distance learning.

  The aim of "Bread and Law" is to make bread an object of legal study in its own right, by combining historical and contemporary approaches. Bread occupies a singular place in French dietary practices and representations. Long at the heart of subsistence issues, it has taken on a strong symbolic and cultural dimension that endures despite the decline in its consumption, as evidenced by its inclusion in UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

  This seminar is organized by the thematic working group on local governance of crises in Africa. It is an extension of the work carried out by the young team associated with the IRD on "Local governance of migration and food crises in Cameroon and Mali" (JEAI-GoMACCA). As part of the activities of the UNESCO "Shared Development Challenges" Chair, it aims to consolidate the network of young researchers working on the issue of local governance of crises in Africa, a network that has been building up since the first seminar in 2025.

  Conceived as part of the Patvie project (Passage d'âges et transition dans les parcours de vie entre vulnérabilité et émancipation), this seminar proposes to put these processes at the center of reflection and to question the social production of vulnerabilities and their institutional regulation through the prism of the notions of age transitions and life courses.   Intranquillity is a term that translates the idea of Desassossego in the Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa. Taken back to Law in its long history, it allows us to think about the other side of well-known legal concepts: tranquility and public peace, public, political, social and moral order, or even good neighborliness and the peaceful enjoyment of property. More broadly, it opens up a wide horizon on the instability and legal insecurity to which the subjects of rights can fall victim. The aim of the colloquium is to determine, through a wide range of examples, whether intranquillity does not, through its prism, enable us to grasp a new angle on the concept of law.

  The Research Department of the École nationale de la magistrature is offering a series of lectures devoted to contemporary changes in the magistrate's office.

  The magistrate's jurisdictional role is undergoing far-reaching changes, notably as a result of the development of alternative dispute resolution methods, the emergence of new types of litigation (climatic, economic, etc.), and the use of conventionality and proportionality controls. This series of conferences aims to analyze some of these developments through a variety of themes.

This international, interdisciplinary thematic school is open to doctoral students, teacher-researchers and researchers. The school is not restricted to any particular discipline, and international researchers are welcome to apply, as the working language will be English.
