Online Bayle Seminar is a study and research group dedicated to the figure of Pierre Bayle. In the very spirit of Bayle's "Republic of Letters", it aims to be both international and interdisciplinary, overcoming the divisions between schools and approaches that have sometimes marked Bayle studies. The topic for this second year is "Education and Pedagogy in Bayle". Whether from a biographical or philosophical perspective, the question touched closely on Bayle's life and work.

This new seminar, organized by the Histoire des technosciences en société (HT2S) laboratory at the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers, offers a regular discussion forum for researchers in the humanities and social sciences interested in aeronautics and space. Its aim is to question the development of these activities in their various forms (aerostation, aviation, missiles and launchers, space) and to place them within the history of human societies.

How does one become an activist? Is there such a thing as "activist knowledge", and if so, what are its characteristics? How does knowledge acquired "on the job" over the course of activist experience, and by definition not easily identifiable, challenge pre-existing knowledge, shake up worldviews, and even radically alter (future) activists' relationship to knowledge? These questions will be addressed through research into activist experience and activist training.

What contributions has feminist thought made to philosophy? How have the great themes of philosophy been invested and reinterpreted by feminist thought? What new themes have been taken up by feminist theory? This new seminar confronts the difficult tension within feminist philosophy between questioning concepts and traditions on the one hand, and renewing objects of thought and epistemologies on the other.
