The digitization of sport characterizes the use of connected self-quantification objects (self-tracking) and/or mobile training applications (such as Strava), which collect, store, visualize, process and, eventually, share physical activity data such as time achieved, distance covered, speed, heart rate, calories burned or GPS track. This special issue aims to document the plurality and ambivalence of experienced and ordinary uses of digitization (self-quantification and uses of mobile applications) in sporting contexts.
