As part of the 2027 Congress of the International Society for the Sociology of Religion(ISSR), this call for papers explores the relationships between visual cultures, audiovisual approaches, religions and contemporary spiritualities. It brings together contributions examining images not only as research tools, but as performative practices that shape religious communities and imaginaries. Proposals incorporating image corpora are welcome.

It is an extension of the work carried out by the young team associated with the IRD on "Local governance of migration and food crises in Cameroon and Mali" (JEAI-GoMACCA). As part of the activities of the UNESCO "Shared Development Challenges" Chair, it aims to consolidate the network of young researchers working on the issue of local governance of crises in Africa, a network that has been building up since the first seminar in 2025.
